The city is still on a high from the Houston Astros WINNING the World Series. Everyone has been anxiously waiting the season opener and now that tickets are on the uprise (I'm sure even nose bleeds are a pretty penny), I figured why not host your own Season Opener festivity at home? Talk about a "Doggone" Good Time right?
Here are a few tips on how you can create the TOP 3 most popular hot dogs for a crowd.
Chicago Dog | Chili Cheese Classic | All American
Chicago Dog - includes Poppy Seed Bun, Mustard, Relish, Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Pickle Spear
One of my FAVORITE hot dogs is a chili cheese hot dog. Doesn't matter where I go and hot dogs are offered, I consider the chili cheese dog a staple. There are so many recipes for delicious chili that can be used to upgrade your hot dog. Check out Stacy with the Hurried Hostess to grab her chili recipe and use it as a topper for your next hot dog bar.
It wouldn't be a hot dog bar with out your standard ketchup and mustard. An All American dog consists of either ketchup, mustard, relish & onions. Upgrade it and add all the toppings!
Don't forget to pick up mini pails from your neighborhood dollar store and pack them full of different french fry options. Your guests can either take a "bucket o' fries" or mix their crinkle cut with shoe string fries. Check out the addicting Garlic Aoili recipe -
What you'll need:
1 egg, 1 tablespoon lemon juice ,1 clove garlic - crushed , 1/2 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard, 1/2 to 3/4 cup olive oil, Salt and black pepper to taste
Keep it easy with a blender...
- Mix the egg, lemon juice, garlic, and mustard in a blender
- On a low speed, drizzle the oil in slowly, making sure that each drizzle of oil is thoroughly mixed in the egg mixture before adding more.
- As you add the oil, the mixture will thicken. Season to taste with salt. If it's terribly thick, you can thin it a bit with drops of lemon juice.
- Serve immediately or cover and chill for up to two days.
Welcome to your new addiction! I added some hot sauce to add a little spice after the mixture was created. You can also add a few drops of ketchup to give it a different flavor.
Be sure to finish out the afternoon with ice cream floats. I love a good Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla and Dr. Pepper float. That right there means love.
