I love my state of Texas and I have reason to believe my state loves me back. With so many cute small towns filled with murals, mom & pop shops & color...I had to take advantage of a girl's day trip with my friend Stacy, The Hurried Hostess.
First stop, Martha's Bloomers. Spotted this cute place from the highway in Navasota and had to hit a U-turn. This cute place not only had a wonderful nursery but was a cute gift shop and restaurant.
After spending some time wandering around we decided to get back on track. First stop, Bryan/College Station. As a Sam Houston State Bearkat, I'm not one to highlight Texas A&M but I enjoyed my day trip passing through Bryan/College Station. Being able to stumble on memorable murals that was probably created for me to come and pose in front of, haha!
Join me on the journey....First Stop "AggieLand" or Bryan/College Station. This mural was the kickoff to our adventure. We found this beauty on the side of the bookstore (where else?). As I travelled along with the day trip, I figured a growing balloon garland is the BEST accessory. Blowing up balloons in the car while driving - not safe...don't do it...good thing these babies were clear.
Next stop...we had to hit this cute donut shop called Babe's Doughnuts. Typical college town donut spot with cheap tasty sweets, coffee options and round tables packed with students studying and sucking up wifi. I liked this place.
My donut of choice - glaze. Simple, classic and sweet..my donuts for photos, anything that looks like a party I'd like to attend.
Next stop...downtown Bryan for Tacos. More like a mural that professes what every woman wants. "Feed me Tacos & Tell Me I'm Pretty." I guarantee that may have been a part of someone's wedding vows. There were a few cute murals in this town square radius and if you can't tell...I had fun!
Next stop was in Calvert, Texas. A town known for its little chocolate shop Cocoamoda. Althouh there weren't any murals, I never passed up the opportunity for a fun photo op.
Our final destination? Waco, Texas! For most we know Waco as the town for the Baylor Bears but for creatives like myself, we know Waco as the town of Chip & Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper on HGTV. Who else wants them to come to their house and renovate with shiplap? Oh..just me? Cool!
Prior to the legendary Magnolia stop, we swung by the cutest candy/dessert shop, Hey Sugar. If this didn't jolt (pun intended) my urge for a cute store, I don't know what else will. They had a great colorful mural on the side of their location...perfect colors to match the colorful candies inside.
After fighting the massive crowd (y'all it was hundreds of people at Magnolia), we had to make our way back to the a/c. I'm pretty sure I melted somewhere between the Food Truck Park (they have mobile food park) and the next mural two blocks away. Was it worth it? Duh!
Last stop, Waco Suspension Bridge. Shame on me for not knowing of this cute picture perfect spot. What better way to wrap up a Waco Day than catching a sunset on this bridge.
There are always new places to discover but I sure enjoyed my time trekking to Waco. I guess the mural below says it all....
