How to Set Up a Savory Fondue for Two (or more)

Whether you are looking for something intimate for Valentine's day or are just looking for something quiet at home, a fondue set up is the PERFECT choice. It gives you the variety of food and the warm and savory and cozy (shall I keep going?) feel you need to feed your soul. Here are my tips on recreating a fondue for two (or more depending on how big your pot is) for Valentine's Day, Date Night or Just Because.

Tip 1: Prep your table. What does that mean? It means that things will get messy so either rolling out kraft paper or some type of washable (but cute) tablecloth is a must. You are dunking food in some delicious cheese so expect a little bit of a mess.

Tip 2: Serve a variety of "dippable" items. From crudités to french fries, even pasta shells will go very well with a delicious fondue. Even contrasting flavors like Granny Smith apples pair deliciously with a savory dip. You can place them all in matching white ramekins to have a cohesive look.

Tip 3: Use large platters that can double as plates. I love plain white rectangle or circle platters to either display your foods OR as your personal platter after you've given your food a cheesy swim. I even like repurposing your wooden serving boards as another option.

Tip 4: Invest in a GOOD fondue pot. Sets that only run off a tea light will not keep your cheese warm. Either select an electric pot or one with a sterno or gel burner. Here are three options, (option 1, option 2, option 3). You can even opt for a little crock pot - it will do the job as well.

Tip 5: If you are opting to do a fondue for two date night, set the mood with lighting. I suggest not using any scented candles as that will confuse the senses with the different smells. Battery operated candles set the ambience perfectly without the confusion of smelling delicious savory foods and a sweet candle scent.

I hope you were able to get some ideas to recreate this fun, interactive food idea. I added a few behind the scenes in the video below (fast forward to 9:05) to watch.
