Toast Host Travels – Palm Springs, California

If you have been following me on Instagram, you may have seen some of my most colorful photos to date. It wasn’t me or the filter but definitely the beautiful color of the city of Palm Springs. I visited this gorgeous and weather perfect city in March for the Alt Summit. Here’s a recap and condensed guide for your next outing to this city.

ENJOY the beautiful airport! It is your first taste of the gorgeous Palm Springs and I had no idea it was an indoor/outdoor space. It truly is one of the best ways to start your vacation when stepping off the plane into low humidity sunny weather.

We stayed in a beautiful neutral and CLEAN (yess!!) AirBnB in Desert Hot Springs which was about 15-20 minutes outside of Palm Springs. Click on the link to get the full beautiful view of the space. Here’s a sneak peek into the kitchen…gorge right?! Yes, that is a vending machine…I know you are wondering.

The conference was held in 4 different hotels across town and the first day started off at the sprawling and beautiful Riviera Palm Springs.

We happened to stay our first night in Palm Springs at this beauty and then transitioned to the AirBnB. We booked a Hot Rate deal on Hotwire and was able to score a single night for less than $175/night. Please note a resort fee is added to your nightly rate.

The Welcome Party to Alt Summit was sponsored by All Modern – modern furniture and decor for your home and office. I was quite obsessed with their branding. The entrance into the space was built around the natural theme, showcasing the beauty of Palm Springs with simple neutral colors and greenery.

– all the black and white floats ….these made me happy.

I attempted to embody the “ALLMODERN” vibe…did I nail it?

After enjoying the welcome party with drinks, mixing and mingling – we met some of the stylish women I have ever seen and getting a feel for what the conference was going to bring we ventured off into the city.

We couldn’t deny the MASSIVE wind turbines and had to capture a photo along the many side streets. Be careful for traffic and cars around you – always pay attention to street signs. Here and here are a great locations where you can capture a similar shot.

That evening, we trekked to the second hotel that was a part of the conference – the Parker Palm Springs. One word – a colorful oasis. From all the blooming bougainvillea to the impeccable hotel decor

Okay let’s get into some food. As a Houstonian, we have a high standard for food whether it is quantity (everything IS bigger in Texas) and quality (it’s both actually) I believe we have some of the best food this country has to offer. Whatever you crave, I can pretty much guarantee that Houston has a spot for it. I was appreciative of the mexican bites all over Palm Springs. A taste of “home” away from home.

Lastly, I encourage you to have a meal at El Mirasol Cocina Mexicana. A local spot with great margs, great food and beautiful mountain views. We enjoyed this meal on our last evening in Palm Springs and it was the perfect evening to say goodbye to this beautiful city.

Finally, here is a recap of all the fun dress up and backdrop obsession we had while attending Alt. If you’d like me to give my opinion and insight on this conference, leave a comment below and I’d be happy to provide my perspective. In the meantime, can we (slightly) obsess over how cute all the backdrops were?

One of the many many many brightly colored home walls in the area. You won’t be disappointed by all the color.

Constant Contact had the cutest booth at the conference – all purple and all powerful.

Alt Summit had many artist create colorful installs at all of the hotel locations. This one I snapped leaving the Riviera hotel and is a great reminder for all the things you do in life.

Alaska Airlines had a fun interactive station at the conference. I probably overstayed my welcome playing in the fringe and rocking the super cute fringe jackets by Rachel Burke aka “@Imakestagram”. Don’t you want one?

The Novogratz premiered some super cute outdoor patio furniture and had a craft floral arranging station. I definitely stopped what I was doing to make this beauty.

WordPress may have had the most relaxing station. It literally was a relaxing set up. Imagine having your choice of listening to ocean waves, classical music, or nature. It was absolutely amazing!

Finally, what’s a colorful Palm Springs trip without having LaCroix being a workshop sponsor?! Complete candidness, I am not a sparkling water fan but their brand outside of the product (I just don’t do sparkling) has made me a fan.

Planning a return trip to make sure my Palm Springs Colorful travel guide is on point. In the meantime, reminiscing of all the vibrant colors and those mountain views…GORGEOUS!
